Responsible homeowners should check their water heaters regularly, as this can prevent problems later on. Sometimes that’s not enough, the unit breaks, and you need water heater repair. East Los Angeles residents shouldn’t be frightened when the worst appears to happen.

 
It’s easy to get exasperated over a problem like this. The water heater is connected to the entire house, and looks imposing in any surroundings. Much smaller appliances can cost thousands to repair, so what about a large one like this? That clouding of the homeowner’s judgment only makes the problem worse and might keep keeping them from the solutions that could save them.  Don’t let it affect you – fixing is usually better than buying a new one.
 
Ponder your decision, but don’t dally. The home has no backup for a broken water heater - there is no other appliance you can turn to achieve the same effect as a working water heater. How are you going to take a shower?  How are you going to clean?
 
Make sure that your unit is actually set up properly. Double-check that the unit is plugged in.  Next, check the pilot light. Every repairman can tell you stories of only having to relight a pilot light instead of having to perform full water heater repair.
 
East Los Angeles homeowners can take several other steps after they have established that their unit has the basics covered. There are a number of differences among the various models of water heaters, depending on whether they are gas or electric water heaters.
 
If the water heater runs on gas, as previously mentioned oftentimes you have to look no further than the pilot light. You can fix this with a simple long match. Ideally, the pilot light should be of medium size. A blue tip on the flame indicates that it’s receiving enough gas to properly function.
 
The electric water heater is often plagued by the malfunctioning electric heating element. Unless you are very familiar, you may not want to take the chance of an electric shock – call a qualified water heater repairman.
