When it comes to making headlines, Placentia has recently received some rather negative press, though the good news is that it wasn’t related to any poorly performed appliance or oven repair. Placentia once prospered from being a point on an important rail line, but the trains have since ceased stopping in the town. Instead, they blow by, causing noise and an unpleasant environment. In an effort to reinvigorate the town, the local government started a plan called OnTrac, meant to reroute the trains underground. However, the plan’s federal funding was pulled, leaving the project unfinished and the City in millions of dollars of debt. In light of this project, locals may want to forget the rather ironic fact that the director of the movie Titanic, James Cameron, was born in the town. Although local government is struggling to provide some services to its citizens, residents can still find help for others, such as basic home maintenance and appliance or oven repair.  Continue Reading >
