Central Texas is known more for the humid heat of its summers, which feel almost tropical, than it is for its chilly winters. Yet, during the cold months of December, January, and February even a city like Austin sees snow occasionally. That's when you'll want to make sure your gas furnace is working. If it isn't, you'll probably want prompt gas furnace repair.

Austin is a city in which life happens at a slightly slower pace than elsewhere. Most stoves in Austin are still gas-powered, as are most of its furnaces. This can be a boon. Gas furnace tend to be very reliable, and are easier to fix than electric furnaces. Also, although gas furnaces are less efficient than electric furnaces, they're cheaper to operate (in most parts of the country, anyway; Austin included). Thus, if your furnace isn't working in the city of Austin, take heart: you probably won't have to pay very much for gas furnace repair.

Austin gas furnaces are no different than gas furnaces anywhere else. If one breaks down and stops providing heat, chances are it's either because the pilot light won't light (or stay lit), or because the pilot light isn't able to light up the main burners. This could be because of dirt particles that have somehow gotten caught in the pilot light assembly, or because of a faulty thermocouple (the safety device that automatically turns off the gas if it doesn't sense heat coming from the pilot light). Alternatively, the problem could be with burners that have gotten dirty or clogged. If this has happened, please do not attempt to fix the burners on your own. That problem requires professional gas furnace repair.

Austin, fortunately, has plenty of competent appliance repair specialists who have extensive experience dealing with this particular appliance.
