I have a GE gas range. Last night, the range started clicking. The clicking noise was coming from the electrode(spark igniter) In order to stop the clicking, I had to remove the electrical plug from the wall. After checking it this morning, the igniter and wire to the spark igniter module appeared to be ok. Could the problem be the module?? The mdule is a Harper-Wyman Model 6520 Kool Lite. Another question is on the back of the module there is are two connector plugs. The plug on the left has a "N" above it and the plug on the right has a "L" above it. Does the yellow wire from the on/off knobs go to the "L" plug and the black wire from the outlet plug go to the "N" plug. Thanks for your help.

Hey Gene I have a Frigidaire microwave model # FMV 156DCC, I get no heat, or burning smell and everything works ok. could you comment on this as to wether this is the magnatron and rectifier tube.

Thanks you

Gene   Thursday, February 05, 2009, 1:26:06 PM
Hello Floyd, If the interior lights, the turn table and the cooling fan still work after you pushed the Start button and there is no unusual noises then the problem could be a bad control board or a bad magnetron. Open the control panel, remove the wires form the high voltage transformer primary windings and check for 120VAC between these wires while the control calls for heat and the door is closed. If there is proper voltage then the magnetron has to be replaced. If there is no 120VAC then the control board has gone bad. Gene.

Gene   Thursday, February 05, 2009, 1:30:41 PM
Hello Michael, Looks like the drain in the refrigerator is clogged and/or frozen. Remove the rear panel in the freezer and, using a hair dryer and a turkey baster with hot water, defrost and unclog the drain. Remove the cover on the back of the refrigerator and make sure the other end of the drain hose is open. Gene.

Gene please help.
I bought a used washer for my daughter for colledge and it seemed to run fine until I got it home and ran it through an entire cycle....no spin cycle
I have been following your advise on line and need help with my frididaire top load washer # FWS445RFS2.Goes through ALL cycles except "spin". Motor turns in spin but belt doesn't move. There is no voltage at door switch when spin cycle is on. It will wash drain adjitate, but no "spin"
Mark

Gene K   Monday, February 09, 2009, 4:20:24 PM
Hello Mark, If the motor moves at the spin cycle, but the basket does not then it could be a bad belt or a bad transmission. Remove the belt and inspect it. In addition, check the idler pulley and the belt tension spring. With the belt "off" turn the transmission pulley CCW and see if the basket will spin. If the pulley is not moving then the transmission has gone bad. Go to the AppliancePartsPros.com and type the model number in the search box to view the diagrams and parts list. Gene.

I have a bosch dishwasher 2 yrs old and after started for a couple of minutes it starts shifting back and forth like it is trying to drain or fill up. It switches back and forth atleast 5 times. I was at a friends last night as she was putting dishes in her washer and made the comment that I would never put some of the things in my dishwasher that she was putting in as they would never come clean. I notice even silverware looking dingy, especially peanut butter. Another question, I have a gas stove on propane and when turning the oven on you really get a strong smell and eye burning. This happens only in the first couple of minutes. Thanks..Hope you can help me. Debbie

Gene K   Wednesday, February 11, 2009, 3:37:45 PM
Hello Debbie, In order to provide most accurate advise I need the complete model number of the dishwasher. In addition I need to know what kind of soap did you use? Gene.

john   Thursday, February 19, 2009, 6:41:55 AM
hello, ihave a kenmore gsa oven/sealed burner,model#3627556891.the oven will not heat up at all,no igniter glow either for the broil or bake? but the top burners work just fine.i'm thinking maybe i should replace the gas valve? any help would be great.
thanks

Gene K   Thursday, February 19, 2009, 12:06:43 PM
Hello John, The first thing I would do is check for 120 VAC to the Bake igniter while the control calls for Bake, and to the Broil igniter while the control calls for Broil. If there is no proper voltage then check for continuity between the Bake terminals and the Broil terminals on the gas valve. If there is no continuity then the gas valve has to be replaced. Otherwise the problem is a bad control board. Unfortunately, the control board has been discontinued by the manufacturer and is no longer available. Gene.

Milz   Saturday, February 21, 2009, 6:37:45 PM
Hopefully Gene or someone out there can help me.I have a Kenmore Refrig model #106.52522101. The water dispenser just up & quit dispensing water. The lever you push to dispense water has no resistance when you push on it. The ice maker is still working. Is there a part I can buy and how difficult is it to replace. I realize it's not emergent but the repair guy I called keeps saying he is too busy to get to it and he has to research it on internet so I thought I'd try it on my own!! Thanks, Milz

Gene K   Sunday, February 22, 2009, 9:15:47 PM
Hello Milz, The model number you posted does not come up. Please, verify and repost it. Gene.

Hello, I have a Bosch washer machine WFK2401UC and I found a burnt power board and replaced it, the washer still stops, with default code 01 Can you please tell me what that means. Thanks, Gene W.

Gene K   Monday, February 23, 2009, 10:17:42 AM
Hello Gene, "01" fault code means "No water filling". You have to check the water valves and the pressure switch. Gene.

Judy Qiu   Tuesday, February 24, 2009, 8:14:59 AM
Hello Gene,

My friend's refrig is not working:
refrig compartment is working, but freezer is working for 1-2 days, then not work.
The defrost timer replaced, not solved the problem. Any suggestions? Thank you very much.

Gene K   Tuesday, February 24, 2009, 1:59:40 PM
Hello Judy, In order to provide most accurate advise I need the complete model number of the refrigerator. Also, can you be more specific on the problem? Gene.

Judy Qiu   Tuesday, February 24, 2009, 8:34:28 PM
Gene,

Thank you very mucy for the response.
The refrigerator brand is Kenmore, side-by-side.

Problem: both freezer and refrig works at begining. a day later, top two drawers (four drawers total) seems not freeze, bottom two drawers are freezing. Refrig side seems OK. When this happened,
power disconnected. wait for a day, then cycle start again. Is that given you idea what might go wrong?
Thanks for your time.

I have a MIELE G858 SCVI Dishwasher.
It stopped draining, water sits there. I did all the internal cleaning, and checked all out let pipes and internal valves. I called MIELE in NJ, they think it's the motor pump or the connection to it. Part is $130. I'm worried I buy it, install it, and it's not the problem.
If I can find a cheaper AFTERMARKET pump, I could take a risk. Anyone have any ideas? I'm in Los Angeles.

-Mike

Hi Gene,
The microwave oven Whirlpool MH7130XEB0 stop heating. Looks like any other function is working - like the lights, fan, internal light, turn table etc. What may be the problem ?. Is it worth spending money on this 1997 model ? How much it may cost for the possible replacement item(s) like Capacitor or Magneton etc ?

Thanks

Gene K   Sunday, March 22, 2009, 3:02:39 PM
Hello Godfrey, In such situation the problem could be a bad magnetron or a bad control board. Both parts are close to $200 and even if you'll do it yourself it's not worth it. Looks like it's time for a new microwave. Gene.

Jacqui   Monday, April 06, 2009, 8:52:46 AM
I have a GE Model# RGB508PEH3WH gas oven and I want to know if the part # WB19k31 is what is needed to make the flame return oven burner. The burner igniter is still working but then when the flame went out and gas was leaking. But now the gas is not coming out of the oven burner and the burner will not light. So is that the correct part to order to fix my oven?

Gene K   Monday, April 06, 2009, 3:12:40 PM
Hello Jacqui. It looks to me like the first failure suspect is the oven igniter. AppliancePartsPros.com part number for the igniter is AP2020569. Gene.

I have a Maytag gas dryer(MDG7600AWW)that heats up for a few minutes then cools down. I open up the front panel & run the dryer.I noticed the igniter glows then it lights up with the gas for about a minute.
Then it stops, but the drum is still spining. I open the door then close it & I start the dryer again. This time the igniter glows but no flame.

Can you Help ??

Gene - The door gasket on the top left of my Kenmore Freezer is not sealing from the left hand corner to the right for about 4-6 inches. I took the gasket off of the door frame (gently) and it now does seal to the freezer. Do i need to leave it this way for a certain amount of time to get the seal corrected? Also, when i readjusted the gasket to the door (there is a frame with screws that it attached to), it is now off of the door about 1/16th of an inch. Is this going to cause a frost problem for me? And if so, any suggestions to correct this? Thanks for your help. steve

We need to replace the inner glass in a Whirlpool oven range.Somehow it cracked. If I order part online, how does glass stay in place when attaching to inner door panel. Do I replace entire inner door pannel with glass already attached or do I completely remove glass and replace with new piece of glass? Also, we have a whirlpool refrigerator/freezer and the ice maker does not work (5 yrs old). It may make ice once in blue moon but very sporatic. What could be the problem and how do we remedy it? Thanks for any help.

Hi, Gene... Thanks so much for the help you've been to all the people I've seen post their repair problems. Maybe you can help me, too. I have a Sears Kenmore refrigerator with bottom freezer. The freezer works fine, but the top refrigerator doesn't get very cold. Played around with cleaning coils, turning the thermostat back and forth. All seals appear fine. Door closes properly. Just can't get the refrigerator to chill the milk and other foods. I've been laid off my job because of this recession. Any inexpensive fixes a lay-guy can do? Would greatly appreciate your kind advice. Thanks, Gene.

Hi, Gene... For my Kenmore, model # 596.79272991, serial # 0003171130, I cleared out all the ice from the backside of the lower freezer and also from behind the panel. The cold air started returning to the upper refrigerator and then everything was fine. But, after 2-weeks the refrig is starting to warm up again and food doesn't stay cold. I think the rubber seals around the door are not sealing properly. Can you tell me how to replace them? Or can you come out to do the work? I'm in the historic West Adams area of Los Angeles. (PS Never got a response from you from my Sept 3 post)

Good Afternoon

I have an Admiral HMG19146 refridge and frezzer that I am having problems with the icemaker. The unit makes ice but in the process of filling leaks water into the ice holding container which then freezes solid. No other leaks that I can see only when filling tray with water after fresh ice is made and dropped into tray.

Your thoughts would be appreciatied.

Hello Gene,

Thank you for sharing your knowledge to help us fix these wonderful appliances.

I have a Whirlpool ed25texhn00 and the ice maker will not fill. It goes through its ejection cycles fine. It has the quad valve 2206123 Whirlpool Quad Water Inlet Valve. The water dispenser works fine, but the valve does not open to send water ti the ice maker. To test the valve, I switched the electrical connection plug from the water dispenser valve to the ice maker valve and pushed the water dispenser arm to fill the ice maker. I heard a hum, but the water did not fill the ice maker. I have checked to make sure the line is not obstructed. I also checked for 120V on the ice maker electrical connection during the ice maker cycle when it should call for water, but did not get any voltage. I also checked the continuity on the solenoid or both and found that there was no continuity on the ice maker solenoid but there was on the water dispenser. Sounds like the ice maker solenoid i

Hello, I have a LG range model LST5601ST and some grease from a pot spilled into the door vent and ran down the inner glass on the door. I ran a self clean cycle and it cleaned the oven as usual but did not clean the inner glass. Could you please offer a suggestion on how to clean the glass? Can the oven door be disassembled or do I need a new door? Thank you in advance for any suggestions.
